Wednesday's learn and earn...

legerity  \luh-JAIR-uh-tee\ ~ noun

DEFINITION: alert facile quickness of mind or body

EXAMPLES: With legerity, the prefect noted that the man had just divulged information about the murder that had not been made public, and which placed him at the scene of the crime.

"I think, the results will not take long to appear, taking into account the legerity acquired by our leading bankers in recent years." -- From a blog entry on, January 30, 2011

DID YOU KNOW? When "legerity" first appeared in English in 1561, it drew significantly upon the concept of being "light on one's feet," and appropriately so. It is derived from words in Middle and Old French and ultimately Latin that all mean "light in weight." These days, "legerity" can describe a nimbleness of mind as well as of the feet. A cousin of "legerity" in English is "legerdemain," meaning "sleight of hand" or "a display of skill or adroitness." "Legerdemain" comes from the French phrase "leger de main," meaning "light of hand."

Originally I was going to post a rebate for free Iams food, but I can not in good conscience, knowing that they treat their test animals so poorly, put that on my blog.  If you want that particular rebate its not hard to find.  Instead, I found a great rebate to go with your Spring cleaning!  Right now you can get $6.00 back on the purchase of three 1000 microparticle performance rating or higher air filters from Filtrete by 3M for your furnace.  Just mail in the com pleated rebate form together with the original proof of purchase seal from your filter and the original dated cash register receipt.  The offer is good through June 30, 2011 and all submissions must be received by June 30, 2011.

Have a great day everyone!

  1. Love learning new words!

Came over from Give It To Me Tara's blog hop!!

  2. Oh, its time for us to get a new filter. The last time we could have made a cat with the fur it trapped.

  3. That is a great deal on those filters! Thanks my dear :)

I love to read your comments, but due to spamming I have had to turn on the word verification again. Sorry for the extra step.
