Thursday's picture perfect deal...

The picture...

When I was in Chicago last month with friends we went to the Farmers Market in Daley Center.  I loved all the colors of the fruits and vegetables and got some great shots so I thought this one would be good for the Halloween season, they are all mini pumpkins.
The deal...
Newport News is having their warehouse sale and is offering 50% off the sale prices today only.  The prices listed on the page will be automatically discounted by 1/2 in your cart.  I was able to find a cute mesh dress that was originally $89.00 for only $19.50.  They have some great deals on the rest of the site as well, but the 50% off only applies to items that are part of the Warehouse Sale.
I hope everyone is having a great day.

Thursday's picture perfect deal...

The picture...

I saw this little grey tree frog early last month sunning on my lilacs.  I hear them all the time but because they can camouflage themselves depending on their surroundings I rarely see them.  The can change color like a chameleon but much slower.  This one is a boy, he has a grey throat, females have white throats.

The deal...

Roamans is having their holiday preview sale with savings up to 60%.  Now is the time to get some great holiday looks at a good price.  Be sure to check out the clearance section as well for deal up to 80% off.  If you sign up for their email they will send you a code for free shipping, and be sure to check out the codes available at Retail Me Not for discounts on sweaters, outerwear, lingerie and boots.

Have a great Thursday everyone!

Thursday's picture perfect deal...

The picture...

This is a shot looking straight down at a very large paper weight that is part of the Arthur Rubloff Collection at the Chicago Art Institute.  "Glass paperweights became popular in the mid-19th century when the establishment of a dependable mail service led to an increase in letter writing and a demand for writing products."  This collection is so impressive, I spent almost an hour looking at them all.  This one is a Millefiori paperweight which translated from Italian means thousand flowers, in this case it was far more than a thousand!

The deal...

Eddie Bauer is having their Spring sale with up to 60% off and sweaters starting as low as $19.99.  I was able to find a pair of long johns for $29.99 - $34.99, marked down from $49.99 - 54.50 (frankly a product I was hoping to to think about for awhile until it got so very cold here).  For the hubby I was able to find a Sueded Jersey Fatigue T-Shirt between  $29.99 - $34.99, marked down from $39.99 - $44.50, for me these are a great find since he love them and they are available in a nice variety of colors and tall sizes.  Also be sure to check the clearance section with deals up to 70% off their original prices.  Plus, while you are at Eddie Bauer, either in store or on line be sure to join their Join Eddie Bauer Friends program, (this is not a credit card) you'll automatically start earning 3% in Rewards toward a Reward certificate for every $1 you spend, no matter where you shop Eddie Bauer. You'll also be invited to member only shopping events and receive free shipping offers.
I hope everyone is having a great Thursday, the weekend is on the way!

Meet me on Monday...

Every Monday Java over at Never Growing Old hosts a Meet me on Monday blog hop that is always fun and helps to introduce new folks. Hop on over and check it out!!

Today's Questions:

1. What do you put on your hot dog?
2. Do you play Sudoku?
3. What is your favorite vegetable?
4. Do you color your hair?
5. What is your favorite brand of clothing?

-----------------------------------------------------

1. What do you put on your hot dog?

Ever since I have been little I have looked at hot dogs as the base for wonderful things.  Depending on my mood I love Sauerkraut, pickles, cheese, mustard, mayo, onions, chili almost anything goes with the exception of Catsup, I don't really care for the red stuff.

2. Do you play Sudoku?

Nope, a Sudoku puzzle would take too much time out of my month.

3. What is your favorite vegetable?

Just one?!?!  I have a vegetable garden and just discovered that Artichokes love my soil and will grow in our norther climate so they are what I have been craving for the last month or so, as a stand by probably Spinach or Broccoli.

4. Do you color your hair?

I thought only my hair dresser was supposed to know!  ;)  I do color it because I don't like the mix of my natural color and grey.

5. What is your favorite brand of clothing?

Oh an easy one, I love everything from Coldwater Creek, I just found some amazing deals on their on line clearance last week.

Have a lovely Monday everyone!

Buying a car without breaking the bank...

Its hard to believe it’s the end of the year for car manufactures when we are in the middle of summer, but now is one of the best times to be looking for a new car if you are in the market for one. There are a lot of incentives being offered by most of the companies, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, Chevrolet are offering 0% APR financing available on many models, cash back rebates of up to $5,000 on some models until September 7th. Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury are offering 0% APR financing on most models, cash back offers up to $3,500 until September 7th. Honda has 0.9% to 2.9% APR financing on some models also until September 7th. BMW is offering Low lease rates and 0.9% financing on many models until August 31st. Mini is offering Low lease rates and 1.9% financing for up to 60 months until August 31st. Toyota is offering 0% APR financing on some models as well as a variety of other deals depending on what part of the country you live in, and Nissan and Infiniti are offering 0% financing on many models until August 2nd.

There are other things to keep in mind when you are looking to purchase a vehicle as well, the old advise of “do your homework” is never more true than when you are buying a car. Also be sure to shop around, not all car dealerships are created equal, you may find a better deal for a truck in a metro vs. a rural dealership where supply is great but demand is low. Also beware of the dealer added “values“, there is a great article I came across at Safe Car Guide that lists all the “extra’s” that are added into the price of your new car, be sure to check it out. Also, remember that if you are going to finance your purchase things get more expensive. I know this sounds over simplistic, but consider that after market heated front seats cost about $500.00, but when those same seats are purchased from a dealer, if you finance at 6.31% (the current national average) then over the course of a 60 month loan those seats cost $9.74 extra per month; that's $584.40 over the course of the loan. If you can wait on some of the little things and add them after you purchase the car you can save a bundle. There are a few things that you should never get from a dealer, the glaring example here are the floor mats. For example, Nissan will gladly sell them to you for $175.00, however if you go to online you can find car floor mats as low as $15.24 for black or $19.95 for animal print at Amazon.

Do you have car buying stories good or bad? I would love to hear your experiences and know how they affected what or where you bought your vehicle.

Have a fantastic weekend!

Thursdays picture perfect deal

The picture...

Every year I look forward to the small patch of peonies opening. They were originally a gift from my grandmother to my mom when she got married and move to her own home, when I got older and moved to a home of my own she gave me a small clump of them. Over the years they have spread and when we move I take most of them with me but leave a few behind for the new owners to enjoy. I love the smell and they are my most anticipated flower every year.

The deal...
