Sunday's media madness...

One of my best friends was thrilled to go see Michael Buble in concert last night so I though I would list one his CDs as my choice for today.  The one I chose is the Crazy Love Hollywood Edition because it contains his two latest albums together.  The lowest price for the CD set is at Red Tag Market for $21.66 with free shipping.  I found this for the lowest price at Grooves-Inc for $11.00 if you want to download the album right to your MP3.

I hope you are all having a great weekend!

Sunday's media madness...

My husband loves to watch Ellen and the other day I was walking by when she announced the live performer for that day.  I had never heard of Jessie J., but somehow I have a feeling I will be hearing more from her.  What an amazing voice!  She is great with her new song Price Tag, but to get a real sense of her voice be sure to listen to the acoustical version of Who You Are at the end of the CD.  You can buy her new CD debut album Who You Are right from her website in either the CD or download the MP3 in either the explicit or the edited versions.  The CD is $10.00 and the download is $7.99, you can purchase the individual tracks at both iTunes and AmazonPrice Tag, Do It Like a Dude and Who You Are are less expensive at Amazon.  The whole album MP3 download is only $4.99 at Amazon but is missing the acoustic version of the title track and the Digital Booklet.

I hope you are all having a great weekend!

Sunday's media madness...

Are you a fan of Glee?  I know quite a few people who really enjoy the show and the music.  The fifth CD in of the music just hit store shelves the beginning of March and features the cast versions of some really great songs.  The song list includes Thriller/Heads are Gonna Roll, Fat Bottomed Girls, Somebody to Love, and Kiss just to name a few.  If you are interested in the CD the lowest price I found was $10.76 with $1.98 shipping from Blow it Outa Here for a total of $12.74.  If you would like to fill in your music library with the first four soundtracks, Glee 1 can be found for $10.13 with free shipping from Movie Mars, Glee 2 can be found for $7.99 with free shipping from CD Wow, Glee 3 can be found for $10.13 with free shipping from Movie Mars and Glee 4 can be found for $11.99 with free shipping from CD Wow.

I hope you are all having a great weekend!

Sunday's media madness...

I have warned my readers many times over about my eclectic tastes so today is proof positive that there is no telling what will strike my fancy.  I have two CDs I am interested in as of late.

The first is Some Kind of Trouble by James Blunt and features his hit song Stay the Night.  I  saw this for the first time watching the BBC and was just thrilled to find out about the third album from him, even if I am a little late since it was out in November of last year.  I was able to find the CD at Movie Mars for $10.66 with free shipping.  Plus, coupon code HOLIDAY10 will get $2.00 off your order when entered at the checkout, the code is good until August 1, 2011.

The second CD that has caught my eye lately is the new Grammy nominated CD by Eminem entitled Recovery.  Its like a rap documentary of his journey through getting sober and sounds a lot like his Slim Shady recordings.  Like rap or not I have never heard anyone who can put together lyric like he can.  I was able to find both the explicit version and the clean version at Movie Mars, the explicit version is $10.52 and the clean version is $13.54, both with free shipping.  Remember to use coupon code HOLIDAY10 to get $2.00 off your order when entered at the checkout.

You can download songs from either album at Amazon and iTunes for $0.99 each.  Maybe next week I will review some of the Opera that I like, ya just never know what your gonna get.

I hope you are all enjoying a relaxing weekend.

Sunday's media madness...

I recently got back into Yoga and its nice to have soothing sounds and music to listen too, but it gets boring listening to the same track over and over.  I found a few really great buys at Amazon for Ambient music mixed with sounds of nature, these are great for Yoga, mediation or just getting a great nights sleep.

Heart of the Wind: Arctic Wind and Ambient Music

The first on is called Heart of the Wind: Arctic Wind and Ambient Music and is available on CD for $16.99, however if you down load it to your MP3 player the full CD, 59 minutes, is downloaded as one song for $0.99.

7: Music And Rain For Yoga, Meditation And Deep Sleep

Second is called Music And Rain For Yoga, Meditation And Deep Sleep, it is also available on CD for $8.98 but again, the full CD, 1 hour and 14 minutes, counts as one song when downloaded for $0.99.

Relaxation Ocean : Nature Sounds and Ambient Music for Deep Sleep

The last one is called Relaxation Ocean : Nature Sounds and Ambient Music for Deep Sleep and like the first two is available on CD for $8.98 but the full CD  of 35 minutes can be downloaded to your MP3 for just $0.99.

I hope you are all having a great weekend!

Sunday's Media Madness...

Recently my husband picked up a new CD at Target called Slash, the lead guitarist is not surprisingly Slash of Guns N' Rose's fame. I have to admit that although I was not a huge GnR fan I really do like the new album a lot. The amount of talent that is featured kind of makes your head spin, the CD features songs with Ian Astbury of The Cult, Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, Myles Kennedy, Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead, David Eric "Dave" Grohl of Nirvana, Michael Andrew "Duff" "Rose" McKagan of GnR and Velvet Revolver, Kid Rock, Matthew Charles Sanders aka M. Shadows, Rocco DeLuca and Iggy Pop. Slash handled the majority of arranging and song writing duties and handpicked each guest artist to collaborate with on rounding out each track, which makes this album great, the different singing styles really come through on each track.  For more information on Slash, the new album or to watch some of his video's check out Slash's own website http://slash.ultimate-guitar.com/.

I was able to find the lowest retail price at Walmart for $10.00 plus tax and shipping bringing the total price to $12.76. If you look on eBay you can find a new copy for as low as $6.00 plus $3.00 shipping.

I will upload a picture of the CD cover when I get home, the hotel computer will not allow me to upload any images yet.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Old money...

Every fall when I start to get geared up to put out the seasonal decorations I also take a look in the closets to switch up my clothes from summer to winter. Every year I find things I didn't wear for one reason or another that we take into the Goodwill or Salvation Army. We also have some great second hand stores in the area that will either buy things outright to re-sell or put things on consignment. This is a great way to get a little extra cash to use on your holiday planning. Just this week I also got a wonderful e-mail from a place called BBOS that will purchase your gently used designer handbags. Most women usually get tired of looking at these bags long before they ever wear out, so this is a great way to get some cash for them. I have a Coach purse that belonged to my Grandmother that looks like it was just purchased yesterday, despite the fact that both my Grandmother and mother used it before it was passed on to me.

Another thing I had sitting in drawers around here were old cell phones, we finally broke down and sent them off to the Cell Phones for Soldiers program. If you don't want to donate them to the Soldiers you can also check for a local women's shelter, they can always use them as well. If you would like to make a little money off your old phone Pace Buttler will buy back quite a few but some are hardly worth the time it takes to package them up so be sure to check the price list first. Always remember to deactivate your old cell phones before you donate or sell them.

Cleaning out your jewelry box? Many of you have probably seen a million commercials on TV for places to sell your old or broken jewelry and wondered about the pricing. I recently used The Gold Guys in the Twin Cities (JUST before they opened a place closer to where I live), and they were fantastic to deal with. We got the current, up to the minute market price for gold, this is important because gold is like selling stock, it goes up and down and you want to be able to sell when its high, if you mail it in you don't know what the price will be when it arrives at it destination.

Finally, if you have decided to trim down your DVD, Game or CD collection take a look at Second Spin. They will pay a set price for each item which makes it easy to know in advance what you can get. Just click on what you would like to sell at the top of the page and then type in the title or UPC to see what you can get, it may not be a lot but if you have a few things it adds up quick.
Have a great weekend and happy hunting.

Sunday's media madness...

I have had a long time love of movies and when DVDs first came out I started collecting them, to the point that they now have their own cabinet as well as shelves build in around the TV to house the TV series and holiday film.  You would think owing over 500 DVDs I would have found Disney's Movie Rewards a long time ago!  I guess I thought Disney Movies were just for kids and I only had a couple, but guess what? Disney is so diverse I actually had 14 of them and now have over 1500 points in my account.  What does that mean?  Well, depending on how patient I am it could mean a trip to Disney Land.  In the 0 - 400 range you can get a free 0 point reward mini story book that goes along with the new Tinkerbell movie release, or if you want to spend some points you can make a donation to one of several organizations, get free Snapfish photo prints or a movie poster.  If you are willing to save up a little longer the 2810 and up category has $100 Delta vacation certificate, Hannah Montana guitar, Mary Poppins and the Lion King tickets on Broadway  and the Walt Disney Studios Special Private Tour for four.  Signing up for the program is easy, just enter your basic information and start putting in your Disney codes, you can find the code numbers on the DVD and Blue Rays as well as the Disney CDs.  You can even earn reward points by uploading a photo of your theater movie ticket stubs.  So go check your DVD collection, bet you will be surprised by what you have, then start saving your points for something fun for you, your child or grand kids.

Have a fantastic Sunday everyone!

Sunday's media madness...

This last weekend I was chatting with my nieces and nephews and was kind of surprised to find out that whats old is new in music still. I had thought it was just a phase that the kids were liking swing and jazz but it seems to have stuck. Don't get me wrong, they still like the new stuff as well, but even that has its nods to the past. While we were talking my husband chimed in that he found a band her really likes on XM Radio that he had never heard before called Volbeat. The kids had never heard of them either so I wanted to hear a little bit of what they sounded like. So to sum up the sound of the band, ummm well, lets see, they are, old rock, a little country, a little TV theme song sounding, a little heavy metal, a little....well you get the idea. Every song has a slightly different sound to it, depending on what the band is trying to get across to the listener, and yet they do have their own distinct sound.

This doesn't happen often, but I have to agree with my hubby, I really like this band (must be the eclectic in me). Volbeat is from Copenhagen and got together in 2001, not surprisingly their inspirations come from Metallica, Social Distortion, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. They currently have 4 albums out, The Strength / The Sound / The Songs (2005-2006), Rock the Rebel / Metal the Devil (2007), Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood (2008-2009). They have a new album called Touring and Beyond Hell/Above Heaven that is set to be released on September 10, 2010. In keeping with the old is new theme the band has even released some of their albums as, well, albums. You can find the vinyl versions with relative ease at Amazon.

If you are interested in the most recent album on the market, Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood you can listen to samples and download individual songs from Amazon or iTunes for $0.99 each or $9.99 for them all, or you can purchase the album CD for $12.12 with free shipping at Movie Mars. If you prefer the old school version of a vinyl record you can find it for $13.08 through a few Amazon sellers. You can also find a copy on eBay, although when I checked I was not able to find one as low as the new copy from Movie Mars.

I hope you are all having a great weekend!
