Meet me on Monday...

Well its Monday again and that can only mean its time to get to know your blogger neighbors with the Meet Me On Monday hop hosted by Java over at Never Growing Old. It is a lot of fun so be sure to hop over and follow along.

Here are today's questions:

1. I really need to clean my _________?
2. What food makes you think of Christmas?

3. If you could choose to stay a certain age forever, what age would it be?
4. What was your first paying job?
5. Have you read the Twilight series?
------------------------------------------------------
1. I really need to clean my _________?

Refrigerator, it needs a good going through and a good wash before all the Christmas cooking starts.

2. What food makes you think of Christmas?

Norwegian rosette cookies, we never made them but mom always bought them from a local baker, I can't resist one when I walk by it during the holidays.

3. If you could choose to stay a certain age forever, what age would it be?

Funny, I was actually just thinking about this this morning when my back hurt (it never used to do that)  I would have to say 32, its old enough to be taken seriously, but young enough to be free of most aches and pains and still have a lot of fun when you want.

4. What was your first paying job?

I started out by working for my dad, he was the Midwest general manager for Provident Mutual Life Insurance and I started out filing, a job no one wanted to do so I had more than enough to work on over summer break.

5. Have you read the Twilight series?
I read the first book, I love to read but couldn't get into the series for some reason.  I do really like the movies though.

I hope everyone is having a great start to their week, if you are looking for a great cyber Monday deal check out Bernie's sale on cards over at Budugelee!

2. What is your favorite kind of soup?
3. Where will you eat Thanksgiving dinner?
4. What is your favorite time of day?
5. Did you start Christmas shopping yet?
---------------------------------------------------------------

1. I wish I had more time to _________?

Scrapbook, even though I have all day to get things done it seems like I only get to scrapbook about once a month.  I have no idea where the time goes!

2. What is your favorite kind of soup?

Vichyssoise is my all time favorite, I tried it when I was really young, out to dinner with my folks and grandmother and it was a fun night so I associate it with a great memory as well as just being yummy!

3. Where will you eat Thanksgiving dinner?

We are having it here at our house with my Niece and her boyfriend.   I am looking forward to having them here for dinner.

4. What is your favorite time of day?

I like the night time, when I snuggle into bed with my iPad and check my FlipBoard app for all the stuff I missed and either read a little or play a game of Bejeweled or Chuzzle.

5. Did you start Christmas shopping yet?
I am almost done shopping and will finish up online.  I am going to have to go to Target at some point for our prescriptions in December and am dreading it, I think  I will have hubby take me so he can park at the curb and I can do a dash and grab.  I can't stand shopping this time of year!!!  Baaa, humbug.  I love Christmas, just not the trappings.

Have a great week everyone!

Sunday's media madness...

I enjoy browsing the app store on iTunes for new fun stuff and was really in luck the other day when I came across Flipboard.  Currently it is for the iPad but the iPhone version will be launching very soon and is worth the wait.  I must have been under a rock because it was named one of Times top 50 innovations of the year in 2010.  (Figures I am a year behind.)  So what does it do?  I allows you to create your own digital magazine which includes articles of interest to you, full or partial newspapers like USA Today, FaceBook, Twitter, Tumbler, Flicker as well as many full magazines like The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, Oprah and tons more.  It puts just what you want all in one place, laid you the way you want them.  So you get all this greatness rolled into one place what what could be better?  The price.  Its free.  This is my "go to" app before bed at night to catch up on things I may have missed during the day, a little fun, a little news, a little social media, all mixed together, the only think I don't like about this app is that I didn't find it last year!

Hope you all have had a great weekend.

Tastefully Tueday...

Last year I shared my pumpkin pie recipe for our family's traditional Thanksgiving, this year I thought I would share a very old recipe that my mom made since I was a little girl.  It came in a 1950s salad cook book that I still have, and let me tell you there are some very strange things in there, but this one is a gem.  Everyone seems love it, it was dads favorite, now my hubby and Niece ask for it each year.

Rosy Fruit-cocktail salad ~

2 3oz packages of cream cheese
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup heavy cream - whipped
3.5 oz fruit cocktail well drained
1/4 cup maraschino cherries quartered
2 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
1/4 cup maraschino cherry juice for color and flavor

Soften the cream cheese and blend with mayonnaise. Fold in the remaining ingredients.

Pour the salad mixture into a shallow round container or onto a baking sheet with a lip and freeze until firm, at least 6 hours. To serve let it stand for a few minutes, then remove from container, if you need to you can set the bottom of the container in warm water to loosen it up. If you use a baking sheet cut into triangles and use a spatula to lift out of the pan.

Coupons:
Save $0.50 off 2 Philadelphia Cream Cheeses at Target
Save $1.00 off any two Hood Cream Products

Today's no cook option comes from Boston Market, print off the $3.00 coupon and bring it in with you.  When you order $15.00 worth of food they will give you the $3.00 off until November 29th.  The fine print: "Good at participating Boston Market® restaurants only. Hope everyone is having a nice week so far.

Sunday's media madness...

There is a great deal going on over at Movies Unlimited right now, they are offering comedies on sale from 1980 to 2011 for up to 50% off.  If you are looking for some holiday favorites or great gift ideas look no further:

Dr. Dolittle from 1998 is only $4.99, regularly $14.99. "Workaholic physician Eddie Murphy turns from two-legged to four-legged patients after an accident restores his childhood ability to communicate with animals. Now he has to cope with complaints from dogs, guinea pigs and other critters, while relearning the importance of his family, in this hip updating of the Hugh Lofting stories."

The always classic Caddyshack is $7.49, marked down from $14.99.  "Riotous comedy set in an elite country club features Rodney Dangerfield as a loud & loutish new member, Chevy Chase as the egotistical club pro, Bill Murray as a crazed groundskeeper, and the pesky Mr. Gopher. The plot revolves around a not-so friendly game of golf between Dangerfield, Chase and stuffy judge Ted Knight."

A great comedy that's still relevant today, Trading Places is also $7.49, marked down from its original price of $14.99.  "Conniving street bum Eddie Murphy and snobby, rich executive Dan Aykroyd wind up switching lives because of a "heredity vs. environment" bet between corporate bigwig brothers Ralph Bellamy and Don Ameche, and hilarious shenanigans are bound to erupt."

The coming of age teen classic The Breakfast Club is now listed at $11.99 from its original $14.99.  "Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, and Ally Sheedy star in writer/director John Hughes' acclaimed teen drama about five high school students from different social, economic, and academic backgrounds who spend a Saturday detention together and learn that they have more in common than any of them ever thought possible."

And finally a great all around feel good movie Moonstruck, now marked down to $8.99 from its original price of $14.99.  "Three Academy Awards, including Best Actress and Supporting Actress, went to this wonderful romantic comedy featuring Cher as an Italian-American widow whose plans to remarry hit a snag when her fiance's brother falls in love with her."

Movies Unlimited's shipping charges for Economy are $4.00 base charge per order plus $1.00 for each item ordered. Maximum per item charge of $10.00.  With the Economy shipping allow 8 - 16 days for your items to arrive.

I hope you are all enjoying a relaxing weekend!
