I was wondering what do do with my Monday spot and came up with the idea to share a memory with you from my past, it could be the long past past or from yesterday, you just never know. I have wanted to write like a "real" blogger for some time. You know, the kind of blogger that tells you a little about themselves and their life, but I didn't want to loose myself in it and do just that either since I love finding coupons and deals to share with you all. I think this is a perfect balance and may let you see a little of who I am in the process.
I am going to start off the first of these recollections with something that happened less than two weeks ago, but made me feel older than Moses! I have two very dear friends who just happen to be 10 years younger and 10 years older than me in age, we all used to worke together and formed a friendship that we will all share until we are locked up in our separate nursing homes... I say separate because I don't think any staff on the planet could stand us together, we are quite a handful. Jen, myself and Deb are 40ish, 50ish and 60ish respectively, normally I wouldn't tell you my age but it's important to note since this made all three of us feel very, very old.
The day started off wonderfully, we grabbed an early lunch and spent a couple hours chatting and catching up; then, since it was so hot out we decided we would go to a local antiques mall that is air conditioned and is rather large, knowing it would take us a couple hours to cover. Indeed it did take awhile and with swollen ankles we finally checked out. I had found a small vintage Anchor Hoching Avacodo Green Soreno Juice Pitcher with two juice size glasses and was thrilled to add it to my pitcher collection for only $6.00, Jen was wondering why this was so exciting to me so Deb and I explained that when you filled up at the gas station way back when you would get small things like the glasses during the week and you got the big stuff, like the pitcher on weekends, so it was kind of a big deal when you could complete sets of things. I have fond memories of driving down with my mom or dad to get the tank filled up so we could get the latest awesome do-dad. Getting gas also used to mean having the tire pressure checked, windows washed and fluid levels topped off as well, and you never left the comfort of your car. At this point Deb and I are really feeling our age; or at least a little more than usual, when all three of us hear the awed cry of discovery from a little girl behind us as she says.."Ohhhhhh Mommy, what's that?!?!". All three of us turned around just in time to see her pointing at a desktop rotary phone. Ugggg, we all hurried out as fast as we could shuffle at our advanced ages to go watch the new play that just came out....HAIR!
I hope you all have a fantastic week ahead.

Thursday's picture perfect deal...
The picture...
We recently went to our downtown classic car show, it's free to the public and was such a wonderful distraction while I was going through all the medical stuff. I love the body lines on old cars and wish they would bring back some of the styling to the new cars on the road. This picture is a late 1954(?) Chrysler 300 with a super fun paint job.
The deal...
I received a great deal in my email this morning from Coffee Cow, a company I love! Note this is NOT a sponsored ad, just my own opinion. I purchased my Keurig coffee maker from them and it arrived on my doorstep two days later, it was also an amazing price. Today's deal is a free baseball cap with your order of $60.00 or more, the catch is that the order must be received today, July 26, 2012. Any order over $50 gets free shipping as well and to top it off they have a fun program called Cow Bucks; orders over $60 get 1% back to use on later purchases. Also be sure to check out the other great deals they have going.
Hope you are all having a great week!

"Vince Bommarito, boniface of Tony's
restaurant at 410 Market Street, said last week was one of his busiest in years
and that this week is shaping up to look the same." — From "Deb Peterson's
Breaking Schmooze" blog at stltoday.com (Web site of the St. Louis
Post-Dispatch), October 18, 2011
DID YOU KNOW? "Boniface" has been the name of eight popes, one
antipope, and one saint, but none of those had anything (directly) to do with
the English word "boniface." The word "boniface" comes from the name of the
jovial innkeeper in George Farquhar's 1707 play "The Beaux' Strategem," the
story of two penniless rakes who determine that one of them must find and marry
a wealthy lady. Farquhar's play made more than one contribution to the English
language. The name of the character of Lady Bountiful is a byword for a generous
(and often conspicuously so) philanthropist. Farquhar, incidentally, never got
to see the influence his play had on the lexicon. He finished "The Beaux'
Strategem" on his deathbed, and died on the night of its third
performance.

Thursday's picture perfect deal...
The picture...
This year for my birthday, before everything kind of "hit the fan", my husband bought me a beautiful bouquet of roses. For some reason they lasted about 2 days before they started falling apart so being someone who will always try to make lemon aid out of lemons I plucked all the petals off in clumps and put them in a wicker basket to dry. They looked so pretty I took them outside and set them in the snow to take their picture. I think they turned out to be the nicest bunch of roses I ever got.
The deal...
From now until Saturday July 21st you can get 10%, 15% or 20% off purchase from Younkers, Herbergs, Bon-Ton, Carsons, Bergner's, Boston Store, Elder-Beerman or Parisian store, just print the coupon and bring it in with you. There is a bonus coupon attached to it to save $10.00 off your purchase of $25.00 or more. If you would rather you can text SHOPPASS to 266866 to get it sent to your phone, just remember that you may have to pay for the text service.
Hope you are having a great Thursday!

Wednesday's learn and earn...
~WORD OF THE DAY~
fugacious ~ \fyoo-GAY-shus\
EXAMPLES: The rock band's rise in popularity turned out to be fugacious, and within two years its members had moved on to other careers.
"It is of no surprise that their debt problem is not fugacious, it is insurmountable. It is an impossible task for Greece to pay its debt." — From a letter to the editor by Alfonso Tiu Henderson in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, February 12, 2012
DID YOU KNOW? "Fugacious" is often used to describe immaterial things like emotions, but not always. Botanists, for example, use it to describe plant parts that wither or fall off before the usual time. Things that are fugacious are fleeting, and etymologically they can also be said to be fleeing. "Fugacious" derives from the Latin verb "fugere," which means "to flee." Other descendants of "fugere" include "fugitive," "refuge," and "subterfuge."

Make a Friend Monday?
I would really like to start up the Make a Friend Monday blog hop again and am wondering if my readers are interested. I was so surprised to see how may hops disappeared while I was going through everything! Has anyone else noticed that or is it just me?
The Make a Friend Monday hop was a lot of fun and a great way to get to know a fellow blogger. For those of you that have never seen it, and some of you that may have forgotten, the hop was simple, stop by the featured bloggers site and say hi, the check out as many of the other blogs as you like, let them know you found them here. Just grab the hop button for your blog or post from the bottom of this post or the sidebar. Link up and have fun meeting new folks.
For the featured blogger I ask you to describe your blog a little bit, then there are 5 questions that I ask, they are the same every week and let the readers get to know a little more about you. They are the same questions every week so no one gets any surprises;
What do you consider your greatest personal achievement?
Where is your favorite place to hang out on the Internet?
If you could meet one person dead or alive, who would that be?
If you could have any job you wanted, what would it be?
Favorite movie or TV show?
That's it, I then link up your button in the first spot, mine second and we are off to the races. So, if you are interested in getting this going again please let me know and I will be happy to get a feature schedule going and remind everyone before Monday what the plan is.
Thanks again to all my readers for hanging in there with me! I love you all.

Silly Saturday...
Friday, July 13, 2012
Looking forward to the future...
I am all done with my radiation treatments and looking forward to getting back into blogging and reconnecting with my readers. I have missed you all! Tomorrow is Silly Saturday but today I thought I would let you all know about the last leg of my journey with breast cancer.
When I last left off I was getting set up for radiation; since then I have completed all 35 treatments. My radiation team was amazing and made it so I actually looked forward to going each day. I brought cupcakes yesterday to celebrate my last day, I am really going to miss their smiling faces, but I am thrilled to be done with those appointments. Now I just need to give my skin a chance to heal and I am on with life.
I know you see a lot of quotes and sayings about what cancer can and can't do but I have never seen anything on what cancer has given a person. Surprisingly it has given me a lot...
Cancer has given me a chance to see just how strong love can be, my husband has been my rock and foundation through everything.
Cancer has also given me the opportunity to see how strong I can be when I need to be and that it's Okay to admit when you are not as strong and need help to get through the day.
Cancer has taught me that time is precious; never wait to do something important, there may never be a better time than now to do the things that are important.
Cancer has brought beautiful people into my life, people that have helped make the journey easier with smiles and laughter.
Cancer has shown me that attitude is everything, if you are bitter then it affects those around you and makes things harder, if you are positive, those around you are positive and things are easier to get through.
At the start of radiation I told one of my techs that I was allowing myself 2 Pity Parties during this adventure. When I did have a bad day and spent the day wondering why me? What did I do to deserve this? I went to radiation the next day and told her I used up one of my Pity Parties and I wouldn't be having another one because there were no balloons and no cake so really what good was it? And in fact I didn't have another one, it wasn't necessary and did nothing towards my healing process. It's Okay to be down, but you need to get up, dust off and take advantage of the day, don't waste a minute.
I am looking forward to a few blog hops tomorrow and sharing a smile with you for Silly Saturday.
Have a beautiful day!
